Free Software fundamentally misses the point. It fails on a practical, ideological, economic, and political level. Letβs examine precisely how (in a slightly different order for the purposes of presentation).

It's easier to understand Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor after experiencing explosions. Those who haven't, the film appears to be bombastic and adrenaline-pumped action. since it is difficult to empathize something when there is nothing to compare to. Making a film about the Palestine genocide is equally as difficult. How is it best to convey starvation, hearing gunfire get closer, distress of whether this is going to be the last moment, to a man sitting in a soft armchair in Vienna or Paris?

One way is to directly show the events and hope the viewers empathize. The other is to focus on the emotions, strip away all the horror visuals and let the dialogue lead the heart. The heart was lead in Kaouther Ben Hania's feature film The Voice of Hind Rajab. The choice of the story being told about Hind Rami Iyad Rajab was lead by the individual need to speak out. The director wasn't the only one to do so in big screen form. It was one of three films about the same little girl. That's in part due to her being the symbol of everything wrong with the genocide.

The movie brings shivers down the spine by never casting an actress for Hind, instead letting her speak with her own voice. The use of actual recordings makes the film much more difficult to make and much more real, as the dialogue cannot be changed that easily, it must feel natural. But boy is it real, since Omar (Motaz Malhees), Rana (Saja Kilani), Nisreen (Clara Khoury), Mahdi (Amer Hlehel) all break down as the grueling 18 hours pass...

18 hours?! For an 8 minute drive?! Yes, the Palestine Red Crescent Society, responsible for rescuing Palestinians, must be given approval from the Red Cross, which has to get approval from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, which has to coordinate with the battalions, so the ambulance could be given a "safe" passage. The cries, the pain, the distress of the 5 year old girl were because of bureaucracy, a thing any adult can relate to. And that's the main channel the film speaks through.

The message was further amplified with the theme of sea. The film began with sound of calm sea waves crashing on shore. The theme was mentioned few times in the movie and then finally rushing through at the end of the film, where it was told Hind wanted to go to the sea after the end of the war. An overwhelming punch to the gut, given the viewers now are aware of the meaning behind the waves, the set-up paid off.

When it comes to corrupting the audience, the film is quite restrained. The director clearly had a lot of displeasant words about the whole bloody affair, but the attention was paid to the broken telephone system, at the cost of the volunteer's attenuation. I believe the film truly corrupted the audience, since after the film concluded, it took 30 seconds or so for any person to stand up.

Watching the Nicolas Cage and Jerry Bruckheimer remake made me extremely curious to see the original Gone in 60 Seconds. And let me tell you that, the film is impressive when it comes to the shier production value H. B. Halicki ( writer, producer, director and star ) put into this film. But on the other hand the film is very hard to follow.
