Fandomhood

Fandomhood points, ( ) or FP are a gimmick that allows authors of the website to gamify Fediverse interactions with their followers. Followers gain FP for doing engagement tasks, such as: liking, commenting and boosting post, through their fediverse account. And in return they get access to unlockable items on the website.

What is Fediverse?

The Fediverse is a collection of interconnected social-media websites designed to talk to one another. If you have an account on the Fediverse you can follow an author of this website. And you can interact with the posts: like them, boost them, or comment on them; via your Fediverse account.

The most famous Fediverse platform is Mastodon.

Is this a currency?

It is not a currency!

Every fediverse account has a different balance of FP relative to every author of the website. Boosting posts of one author does not give you points for the other author. Using your FP makes them simply disappear. And the author can generate FP out of thin air to "gift" them to certain fediverse users. Those FP aren't transferable. And they have no real value outside of interactions with the author in question.

What value is there then?

The value is in the interaction itself. Due to the interconnected nature of the Fediverse, a simple like might greatly increase visibility of a post. But boost and comments increase the visibility of the post substantially. You, as a fediverse, can provide that visibility to the author and in return get something from the author.

How to get FP?

The FP calculation might be subject of change, or bugs.

When you like, comment or boost a post on this website, the server where your Fediverse account is hosted, sends a message to this website. The website knows, by listening to those messages and recording them, who has liked, commented or boosted, what posts on this website.

When you check your balance, the website quickly checks your name in those records. And also sends a request to your server, requesting the information about your followers. The number of which is useful later.

If anything in these communications doesn't work, the calculation might not be accurate.

If you have less than 10 followers, the system will treat you as if you have at least 10 followers anyway.

If you are logged in with your local account, it will also count likes and comments you did from your local account.

How to Get Access using FP?

Posts with symbol in the preview are posts unlockable with FP.

Starting unlock procedure

When you go to said post you will see a button that reads "Get Access". Click it.

Calculation page

Clicking on it will get you to the calculation page. Where it will show you how much FP you have and whether you have enough to unlock this post.
If you have not enough FP, you need to like, comment, or boost, more posts by this author. Or ask the author directly to "gift" you some FP.

You may need to refresh this page, to update the numbers.

If you have enough you will see a button to unlock the post.

Confirmation of the Fediverse account

Pressing that button will get you to the final, confirmation stage. The website will send you a Private Mention with a numerical code for confirmation. If you aren't following the author and have "Unsolicited Private Mentions" turned off, you might not see the message. It should arrive as a notification to your Fediverse account.

This step requires your Fediverse server to accept messages from this website. If the website is not federated with, it may cause everything to fail. And you will see a 403 error message or something similar. Sometimes simply searching for posts of the author from within your fediverse account, might make the websites familiar with one another which might fix this issue.

All you need to do now, is to input this code into the input field and continue to the unlocked page.

If you are logged in with a local account, it will remember your fediverse account, so this verification step will not be needed in the future.
