We all know that when politicians tell us to think of the children it is always a bullshit manipulation technique. But I rarely see people actually break down the issue well when it comes to EU's Chat Control.

To give you some context: EU ( and other countries ) propose laws ( that will probably pass ) that will completely undermine everybody's privacy ( due to their ignorance ) in hope to catch CSAM ( child sexual abuse material ). The politicians are ignorant, because they believe they can "sniff the messages" without reading them, which is a mathematical impossibility. And that whole thing only violates children more than it protects them.

There is plenty explaining online of the first part, about the mathematical impossibility. But I rarely see anybody discuss the second part, that it will violate children even more. Here is an interesting fact:

CSAM is a violation of child's privacy.

Have you ever thought about how does somebody viewing CSAM violates the child again? Seemingly the harm is already done and watching a picture or a video of it, doesn't do much at all. Well it does. But the people saying that is violates the child again are very careful to keep themselves vague, so they could push things like Chat Control. It violates the child's privacy.

Removing privacy to help somebody with their privacy is idiotic at the very least.

Current proposals of Chat Control include AI models trying to detect new CSAM, and "to not break encryption" will run on the host devices of the people sending the messages ( which is, by the way, functionally indistinguishable from not having encryption ). Those AI models need to be trained on existing CSAM... So think about this...

Governments abuse children, by giving AI companies their naked pictures ( which violates their privacy ), so that they can train their AIs on those pictures, so that they can catch you, to protect those children's privacy!!! This is dumb!!! This is child abuse!!! This is what we need to stop!!!

Yes! With an encrypted chat, if person A sends a picture of a child to person B ( without that child's consent ) that is a violation of the child privacy and therefore is wrong. But crippling that encryption, or giving those images to an AI company ( in hopes to catch person A or person B ), is a much bigger violation of the same child's privacy. Because now, way more than just those two people will violate this same child.

For a 100 years child abusers did everything they can to remain in control by twisting the words and by using DARPA and other shit, so that children will get more an more dependent on them and therefore easier to abuse. Chat Control in the EU just helps those abusers with their abuse.

Protect the children!!! Fight Chat Control!!!
