Free Software fundamentally misses the point. It fails on a practical, ideological, economic, and political level. Let’s examine precisely how (in a slightly different order for the purposes of presentation).

There is a trio of directors who could be considered the masters of depicting water: James Cameron, Luc Besson and Guillermo del Toro. They have shown themselves to be most interested in the deep blue and what lies beneath it. In Cameron's case, all movies, excluding Terminator, Aliens, True Lies, feature heavy involvement of water into the plot of the film. Luc Besson, too, is too not stranger to water or more aptly horniness for dolphins, from The Big Blue to Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Del Toro, as well, goes hard with water in Pacific Rim and The Shape of Water. ↩ Reply

Even so, I believe Brian Duffield made the best horror film about the underwater. Sorry Cameron, Piranha II is too funny to be considered an earnest horror film. The water trio may have a contender of a person who too is fascinated by what underwater holds. But do not be deceived, in the critical assessment of water he finds true beauty and respect for the marine ecosystems. c:0 ↩ Reply

The film in question, Whalefall, comes off like a horror version of The Big Blue. In both films, the father jumps off the boat in an underwater suit and drowns. Both of the sons of the films are motivated to go out diving. ↩ Reply

The difference is that the son in Whalefall (played by Austin Abrams) acts like he hates his father (Josh Brolin), but is still motivated enough to go search for his corpse, invalidating the statement that he actually despised his father. In both cases they nearly die diving. ↩ Reply

I find it particular how the main character of Besson's film seeks out to find mermaids and find them to be dolphins. Whereas Duffield's protagonist searches for his father and finds him inside of a stomach of a whale, the stomach of his reincarnated father. Although there are no dolphins in Duffield's film, there for sure are mermaids and they are whales. The movie pulls of the biggest corruption of the audience. The merman father is blown up and the viewers are happy. Duffield made the audience fall in love with a whale and justified murder of it. Besson does not have ball enough to do that with dolphins. This is why, Whalefall takes the crown of the scariest underwater movie. Sorry Cameron, I am taking the crown from The Abyss. ↩ Reply

Am I bad guy for being so positive about a movie of a person I do not care much about? Well, there is nothing to fret, as the 3D film directed by Billie Eilish is palatable for everyone looking for entertainment. Certainly no masterpiece, the film still hold water in its flow. 3D doesn't work if there is no parallax. And parallax just out there doesn't work if there is no reason for it to exist. The documentary provides ten times that.
