Artificial Fucking Intelligence! The brain-rot born out of a different brain-rot, called "capitalism" causing literal brain-rot of a society. A thing so rotten and so utterly despicable that calling it "slop" is to give it a compliment.

Before there was AI there was face-value. There is no longer any face-value left. Images that looked good meant somebody had to sit and pour hours upon hours of labor into first studying the art and then executing the final result. Prettiness on the face-value was impressive. With AI everything changed. Now, as any average Joe can ask a fucking chat-bot to draw him a "masterpiece" just simply looking at an image doesn't tell you nothing about it at all.

Everything became uninteresting. I used to scroll through social media and stop to look at somebody's work. I used to marvel at thumbnail design on YouTube. I used to appreciate good looking UI. Today everything is beautiful but nothing is worth stopping and appreciating. Nobody fucking did nothing. It is all generated by a fucking chat-bot. And if something isn't generated, how would I know? How would I tell the difference?

Today I stop to look at images only by those people that I know hate AI. I have to know and trust that they will never touch this shit. Anybody new? Anybody I stumble upon randomly? Non of them impress me. Because I think it might be AI. And therefor I should not even slow down my scrolling speed for them.
↩ Reply
Think about this in the context of trying to break though the noise. Say you are an artist that wants to do something for real. That wants to impress people with actual fucking skill. Sometime ago ( in not so distant memory ) all you had to do is post your work out there.
↩ Reply
Today people will scroll pass it. Today people don't care. Today they "can make something that look as good themselves". Or if they hate AI, they might just think everything is AI by default and move on.
↩ Reply
But the "face-value" problem is just the top of the iceberg.

We are having an apocalypse when it comes to computer-science. Computers are science. They are made with science, running science, to solve things scientifically. Electricity is science. The knowledge of how to control electricity to make it do what you want is science. And software, that runs on those computers, is math, and therefor is science.

It is already dystopian that most software science for the last multiple decades was happening behind closed doors of Non-Disclosure Agreements, Copyright and Software Patents. Most software people used were black boxes, nobody outside of the companies that produced them, knew nothing about. But at least there was the knowledge. Yes it was behind closed doors, but somebody somewhere actually did the science.

At the start of the current Apocalypsis Intellectual when Micro-slop unveiled their early version of Copilot, there was an existential dread in the air. This Copilot could be used to circumvent the protections of the GPL, giving companies that are utterly against the ideals of the GPL the leverage to fuck us all up.
↩ Reply
Let me explain. The GPL or the GNU General Public license is a very clever, actually quite impressive, legal document that pressures Evil-Tech-Lords into being not so evil. The Evil-Tech-Lords ( Micro-slop, The Rotten Apple, Sorry ( the ones behind Sorry Prey-Smashen ) and many others ) decided that it will make them more money if they didn't participate in the science of the software. But instead developed said software in secret and charged people for the privileges to use it.
↩ Reply
This meant that no actual computer science was happening anymore. There was no way to know how these black boxes ( of pre-compiled machine code ) actually did what they did. And that also meant that users were at the mercy of the developers. So people rebelled against it. And actual science continued in the outskirts of the software world giving birth to projects like GNU / Linux and the Libre Software ecosystem ( known ironically by its rival's name "Open Source" ).
↩ Reply
Because said software was published in such a way as to make its function accessible to the users ( by providing source code and stuff ) Evil-Tech-Lords decided to work less and use this Libre ( sciency ) source code instead of developing their half-witted bullshit.
↩ Reply
If they can pay less to develop, but sell it in the same way, they can make even more money.
↩ Reply
As you can see those brain dead fucks didn't care about the science. They only cared about little green pieces of paper. And like a rogue AI that creates the end of the world to optimize the production of paper-clips, they created the end of the world to optimize for productions of those little green pieces of paper.
↩ Reply
The rebels rebelled. They came up with a very ingenious legal concept called copyleft, which, if applied to their computer-science, would protect it from the Evil-Tech-Lords. Or at the very least would force the Evil-Tech-Lords into contributing to the science. Instead of abusing it.
↩ Reply
The problem was copyright. The brain dead fucks that are the Evil-Tech-Lords made it so they could copyright their software, which meant that they could control who can see and or use the source code. Not very sciency of them. And because the software that was shipped was compiled ( not in a human readable source code form anymore ), they could squeeze on the tits of the consumer, yanking the last painful little green piece of paper from every single user's orifice.
↩ Reply
The copyleft was designed ( paradoxically ) to use copyright to cancel copyright. If copyright is granted by default to all authors of all software. Those that do it for science need to include a permission to use that source code. Otherwise it is not sciency of them. But they could add a small condition. Say that all the use of said source code, must be sciency. The GPL is one example of this idea. It states in a far more complicated set of legal jargon, that if you were to use the source code of a program under the GPL, the program you build with it, should be published with its source code and also be under the GPL.
↩ Reply
In a way GPL is a recursive, viral "fuck-you" to the brain-dead-fucks of Evil-Tech-Lordia. If the Evil-Tech-Lords want to benefit from the science they have to contribute to the science and spread the GPL virus.
↩ Reply
So 2021. And Micro-slop releases Co-pilot. An AI fuck-bot that can write code, trained on the entire database of GitHub.
↩ Reply
Question. Does that break the copyright? If it does, and at least some of the code on GitHub is under the GPL, then anything Co-Pilot generates is automatically under the GPL. If it doesn't than Micro-Slop successfully circumvented the GPL. Now they can make black-boxes of slop based on the work of scientists and give nothing but a middle finger and a few fart noises in return.
↩ Reply
We have 3 camps.
↩ Reply
Scientists or the Libre Software people that want code that they can read and change. That want to know and understand how everything works. And generally that want the science to move forward.
↩ Reply
We have the Evil-Tech-Fucks that do not care about anything. And would be happy with a half-working fart-noise machine that they have no clue about how it work, just if they see a fresh envelope full of little green pieces of paper every once in a while.
↩ Reply
And we have "Open Source" that pretend to be group number one but are actually group number two.
↩ Reply
Even before Co-Pilot the idea of "training" an algorithm instead of manually figuring out the science of said algorithm was so outrageous to me that I couldn't fathom it. The trained slop box is indistinguishable from from the black boxes that were offered by the evil-corp. There is no source code. There is no knowledge. There is no science. So what that it technically does the job?
↩ Reply
Obviously the Evil-Tech-Lords don't care. They never cared about the science part.
↩ Reply
But then this slop-box bullshit continued into today's double-bullshit where slop-boxes are the ones generating further slop. Where "trained" algorithms, that nobody knows nothing about because they are fucking "trained" algorithms, generate further slop. Slop-code, slop-art, slop-shit. As an output of a slop-box. Everybody fucking lost their fucking mind!!!
↩ Reply
Nothing is good anymore on its face value. Nothing is impressive. And Computer science is fucking dead!
↩ Reply
Those few that completely reject the slop-pocalypse and ban anyone, from contributing, who they even remotely suspect of having chatGPT in the browser history are the only ones left. Those few organizations are the bips and boops of the medical machine that keeps computer science's heart still faintly beating.

The video shook me up, like no other video on AI had. Since it handled the problem at its root, at what reality this AI was: radical opposition to despair of enforcement. It tackles the problem of having a select few channels of information, providing only limited subset of what may be of specific interest to one, by providing only questions.

This is just a thought I had the other day thinking about why I dislike AI so much, while also having a problem with the concept of copyright. Strange, right? I both hate copying restrictions on things I want to copy or share. And both hate biggest copyright attacker in the history of copyright attackers: AI. How's that? Well I hope my "Fake-Nerds" analogy will be helpful.

An article by Troler about Libre Software made me remember an email conversation I had with Richard Stallman the other day. I suggested to have a sort of freedom ladder analogue, to encourage non-libre software developers to, at least, move closer towards user-freedom. I thought ranking software based on how close they are at achieving user-freedom. How close they are to being Libre. If they have source code published, but no license. This is still better than having no source code published at all. Stallman firmly stood his ground against my idea, claiming that anything less than Libre, anything less than software that grants all 4 essential freedoms to the user, is automatically not good enough. But then in that article by @Troler I saw something interesting. Maybe merely granting the 4 essential freedoms, might be not good enough, either.
