Yet while the idea is descent and the game turned out to be quite fun, I completely disregarded any considerations when it comes to the market. I didn't think about who might want to play it.

When hearing that I don't have a smartphone, a lot of people ask me, how the hell then I take pictures. And I always answer that I have a dedicated camera specifically for this. I often argue that it's a way better way to take pictures. You know... The sensor is most likely better. The lens is most likely better. As so on and so forth. And I almost haven't thought about the possibility that a camera can be as bad as a smartphone. But perhaps I was wrong.

Paramount snatched "The Naked Gun" / "Police Squad" rights from Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams and instead gave the material to a different Jew Akiva Schaffer to adopt. And while Schaffer is a good comedy / parody director, it seems like the movie ended up being just "merely clever".

I shall complain a little bit on a stance from EFF and how I think they should be pushing harder. Not so long ago Australia decided to ban any platform where users can upload things, to anybody who is younger than 16 years. This is an ageist, paternalistic atrocity and has to be fought with viciousness. Yet EFF seem to only understand the secondary problems with this law.

A lot of people have a mixed bag of feelings when it comes to Steven Spielberg's 2018 masterpiece Ready Player One. They dislike the nostalgia bait, and the countless references. They poke fun at logical inconsistencies. Yet nobody can deny the fact that Spielberg apparently is incapable of making a terrible movie. Elon Musk is now infamous for showing a Nazi-Salute when Donald Trump became the president for the second time. Yet, this is the same Elon Musk, who's cars were disliked by the same people who have a hard on Trump. People who like to burn gasoline. For them an electric-car company is an epitome of wokeness. It was very funny to see, then, Donald Trump making an ad-read to promote those cars, before realizing what he had done and deciding suddenly to hate on poor Musk. Was Musk playing a part of a Nazi? Was the Nazi-Salute a genius marketing move, to try to make the conservative public of the United States consider buying a car they so disliked? Or was it just a funny set of coincidences?

We are Selling Freedom Wrong! And I don't think this problem only applies to Libre Software or the Fediverse. It think this problem is applicable broader. I think the sense of "the end of the world" that a lot of people are feeling right now, comes exactly from this problem. From the bad enshitified software we are forced to use, to the various wars around the globe, to the unsettling uprising of complete political instability. On the Fireside Fedi interview with Jerry ( the admin of Infosec.Exchange Mastodon instance ) a scary truth was suddenly revealed ( on 34:11 ): Just to keep the instance up and running he needs to spend up to $5000 a month, pretty much out of his pocket. Donations to the instance barely cover any of that. And if he will ask people to pay to use it, they will, rightfully so, switch to a different instance.

People in the government rarely have the interests of the public as their primary goals. This has been like this since the invention of governments. But while with kings and queens of the middle ages it was apparent that it's the case, politician now a days with democracy, which allocates some control to the masses, have to pretend that they care about this thing of that thing, so that the masses would choose them to form the government. There is no reason to be a politician if you aren't fighting for some sort of control over the masses. Very rarely politicians are genuine, and even those that are, are swapped into the same scheming and manipulations of the public as any other ones. The competition demands thins kind of vicious behavior. The unfortunate truth is that for those manipulations of the masses, there should be mechanisms for such manipulations. And if the masses can get away from those mechanisms by forming ways to preserve their rightful freedoms, the government has to intervene and scheme something so that the freedom itself would sound like a bad idea to the masses.

PewDiePie, once the king of YouTube, has now decided to stop shannigans and move to GNU / Linux operating system. And not simply to move to GNU / Linux, but stop using Photoshop and move to GNU Image Manipulation program, known as GIMP. Go back to using OBS. And even gave a rather okay-ish explanation of GNU / Linux and his reasons to move to it, to his 110 million followers, in a video he published titled: I installed Linux (so should you).

Most Free / Libre Software projects are maintained either by strong communities, or through some kind of donation system. Libre Games struggle with both aspects. There are community driven games, but those lack vision and coherent style, because different people contribute differently, on different skill levels and with different stylistic choices. And no corporation is benefiting from existence of libre games, therefor no serious donations are ever expected to be coming their way.

With the petitions idea, which could also be described as some sort of "reverse crowd-funding", I want to try to give Libre Games a chance at sustainability. Which if successful could make Libre Software as a whole more appealing. And perhaps do some good in the world.

Is Lars Von Trier Really an Edge Lord?

There is a certain sense among cinephiles that the danish filmmaker Lars Von Trier is nothing but an edge lord, making his films simply as a sort of pornography designed to outrage people. It does not help his case that his films are some of the hardest films to watch. And it doesn't help that his movies tend to touch upon uncomfortable things in very uncomfortable ways. Yet I don't believe Lars Von Trier does any of that for laughs.
