Sir Kenneth Branagh! That's the end of the review. Just kidding. A Haunting In Venice is the new picture directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Kenneth Branagh which is a kind of a sub-genre of films of it's own. Branagh started his directorial career by directing a movie where he played the main role. And continued directing movies where he played the main roles ever since. Of course sometimes he might make a movie where he plays not the main character, like the 1992's Peter's Friends where Peter is played by Stephen Fry. And Branagh just has a very big role in it. And sometimes he plays in movies where he is not the director. Like in Dunkirk, Tenet and Oppenheimer all directed by Christopher Nolan. Of course lately he got himself directing jobs where he didn't cast himself what so ever. Like in Marvel's Thor ( where the actor was cast by Marvel ) or Disney's Cinderella where for obvious reasons a middle aged man cannot play the main character. But most of the time he plays the main character in the films he directs. It kind of became a meme at this point that if Branagh directs a film, most likely he plays the main character.

The following text is a story I wrote, after listening to a DEFCON Conference talk about HALO 3C devices that are designed to catch smoking and vaping children in schools. The hackers Reynaldo and nyx got access to one such device, took it apart, looked into its hardware and software. And found out that at best it is poorly designed. And at worst it is a literal Mossad bug to listen to kids talk.

Cracking jokes and grinning while speaking of most horrific events in human history like it were a regular Friday night, is one of the best ways to come with the trauma. Today some of the most popular car games like BeamNG.drive holding on a realism of damage models almost solely. And therefor for me, making Dani's Race any other way, would have not been a good idea. I knew I had to make the cars in my game breakable.

Avatar: Fire and Ash adds a new villain to the Avatar universe, in a form of Varang ( Oona Chaplin, a grand-daughter of Charlie Chaplin ), an evil Na'vi lady with a tribe of fire-hungry psychopaths, traumatized by the shier insanity of human destruction. As she says in the film, when she was little she witnessed a huge fire ( probably caused by human machines ) that destroyed a lot of the forest. There was no Eywa to save them, or provide for them, so she turned to the "dark side", so to speak. So how the writer and director James Cameron show that she is evil? Well, she rapes people.

I was skeptical of Luca Guadagnino's films like Call Me By Your Name until I saw them. It felt like Luca is making high brow dramas that are designed solely as tear-squeezers that appeal to contemporary politics. But then I saw his movies. From Call Me By Your Name to instant horror classics like Bones And All he proved time and time again that he is truly great. His movies are insanely visceral emotional roller-coasters that are not afraid to be sincere, while every other movie these days cannot take anything seriously. But then came a trailer of Luca Guadagnino making a movie about Tennis.

What is it with Jerry Bruckheimer of the late 90s and early 2000s and with Nicolas Cage? First in 96 we get Michael Bay's The Rock. A year later in 97 Jerry puts Cage in Simon West's Con Air. And then in 2000 Dominic Sena under the supervision of Bruckheimer puts Nicolas out of his Cage and into a driver's seat of 1967 Ford Shelby GT500, in the subject of this review, the loose remake of H. B. Halicki 1974 film Gone in 60 Seconds.

Child Abuse in on my mind right now. I have written a screenplay for a feature film that I'm already in early talks to produce. The bad guy in the movie is a child-rapist / child-killer. His presence alone justifies the anger of the heroes and creates the tension in the film. Yet I don't think I can make a movie that is a shlocky exploitation film. The subject matter is a bit too strong for something that careless.

In the summer of 2025 Sydney Sweeney made a controversial, seemingly Nazi-propaganda advertisement for a Jeans brand that claims that she "has great Jeans" ( which is a pun for "genes" ). Being a blue-eyed sexy blond woman, made the "genes" pun quickly interpreted as a endorsement of eugenics. And a lot of people on the conservative side equated her "huge tits" to the "death of wokeness". While people on the left decided to attribute her success with her sex appeal, almost accusing Sweeney with sleeping with executives, to become famous. And yet despite all this, Ron Howard's 2024 thriller Eden ( which is starring Sweeney ) has Ana de Armas at a role of this super-hot lady that sleeps with men to get what she wants.

First time I heard of the movie Summer of '42 when reading Tarantino's review of American Graffiti. In his review a large chunk is dedicated to this picture, because he is trying to illustrate the aesthetic similarities between the two pictures and the broader genre shifts of the 60s and 70s cinema landscape, that gave way to something like American Graffiti. Shortly after that, there was the review by Troler. And then finally, which made me grab my lazy ass and put it into the chair to watch this film, was a conversation I had with @Troler , where he so kindly spoiled the ending of this movie for me, while breaking down the cinematic techniques used in the film.

The duo of Simpson and Bruckheimer were obsessed with Tony Scott, the director of such classics as Top Gun, Days of Thunder and Enemy of the State ( which coincidentally were all produced by Jerry and Don, apart from the last film, which was produced after Don's passing ). But Tony Scott didn't only work with the duo. For example in 1993 he made a film not produced by Jerry and Don called True Romance from a screenplay of Quentin Tarantino. Which makes Crimson Tide the second collaboration of the two
