It is infamous at this point that the production of the
Michael Bay quickly assembled into something from which a good script could be written. This movie started production without a script, only a rough idea of the story, which is not a bad rough idea. But all of the little details were not there at all by the time of production, leaving Bay pretty much at the helm of coming up with stuff on the spot.

I decided to re-watch the first
Transformers film today, but differently. Instead of indulging in it as mindless entertainment, I decided I want to actually view it seriously, as I would with somebody like
Steven Spielberg, who, by the way, was an executive producer on the film.

Megan Fox. Megan Fox is the only flaw of
Michael Bay's
Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The script by
Ehren Kruger ( who wrote
Top Gun: Maverick and
F1 ) was written with Mikaela Banes ( Megan Fox ) as the girlfriend of
Shia LaBeouf's character Sam. But because of some drama behind the scenes ( which involved
Steven Spielberg for some reason ), she ultimately dropped out of the project, in very late stages of pre-production. Forcing the team to quickly patch her character out in a very forced and obvious way, replacing her with
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who worked with Bay on Victoria Secret commercials. That ultimately made the film very confusing, emotionally.

So here is a movie from
Paramount Pictures that was executive produced by
Steven Spielberg with
Stanley Tucci playing a villain and
Mark Wahlberg playing a dad of a teenage girl. The movie touches on very hard emotional topics of sexual abuse and age discrimination. And
Peter Jackson does a very good job... Oh... wait... it's not
The Lovely Bones... ah... yeah... so...

There is this satisfaction when it comes to animation, that
I know from personal experience where the longer you work on a shot, or a sequence, the more details there is in the animation, the more satisfying it is to later just watch this insane level of effort simply wash over you one frame after another.

What is the meaning of "The Lovely Bones" 2009 by Peter Jackson?

In my review of
Transformers 4 I touched upon the uncanny resemblance of it to
Peter Jackson's
The Lovely Bones. I have not seen the movie when I did that. I knew it existed. I knew what it was about. I've only seen it now, for the first time. And the uncanny resemblance ( as in, the father is played once again by
Mark Wahlberg and the villain is played once again by
Stanley Tucci and we have
Steven Spielberg's involvement ) is rather strange. It begs a rather profound question, what was the point to make the movie?

Was the 2014 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" directed by Michael Bay?

While
Steven Spielberg was producing a
Michael Bay film
Transformers 4, Michael Bay was producing a
Jonathan Liebesman 2014 film
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And like with a Spielberg-produced film
The Poltergeist by
Tobe Hooper about which people started claiming that Spielberg himself directed the movie in question. With the 2014
TMNT people started claiming Michael Bay was the actual director on this film. It is absolutely and utterly poetic that both Tobe Hooper and Jonathan Liebesman also made movies in the
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold ( 2019 ) shows that they should not have replaced Isabela Merced

Between
Transformers 5 and
Alien Romulus Isabela Merced played Dora the Explorer in a 2019
James Bobin film
Dora and the Lost City of Gold. And just because I'm starting to become a fan of Isabela Merced ( or maybe a simp, IDK ), I decided to finally take a look at this movie. And I gonna tell you that, that reboot they did in 2025 with a different actress playing Dora, is not interesting me at all, because you can't replace Merced. She is just too perfect.

I love
Isabela Merced. Ever since I saw her being this absolutely amazing girl in
Michael Bay's
Transformers 5 where there isn't enough of her either, I was a fan. I even genuinely tried to like
Madame Web because of her part in it. And so it was rather disappointing to see how little screen-time she has in the new 2025
James Gunn film
Superman. In case you didn't understand the title, she plays Hawkgirl.

The Taking of Pelham 123 ( 2009 ) is Tony Scott continuing to mess with Michael Bay

Tony Scott's 2009 film
The Taking of Pelham 123 is a remake of a 1998 TV movie with same name, which is a remake of a 1974 movie with the same name, which is an adaptation of a 1973 book, with the same name. Strangely enough, apart from
Denzel Washington playing the hero and
John Travolta playing the villain, the film also prominently shows
John Turturro and
RamΓ³n RodrΓguez which, the same year, also appeared in a
Michael Bay film
Transformens 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

The Island 2005 is Michael Bay's Minority Report

As far as my speculation goes, I think, it is safe to assume, the following happened: In 1994 ( before doing
Bad Boys )
Michael Bay signed a 10 year contract with
Jerry Bruckheimer which expired in 2004 ( after
Bad Boys 2 ). Knowing that the contract is about to expire, 2 years prior ( in 2002 )
Steven Spielberg, in an attempt to get on good terms with Michael Bay, added a small reference to Bad Boys into his film
Minority Report. And then took Bay under his supervision for the next 10 years. Starting with the 2005 film
The Island. And through the
Transformers franchise. Bay returned the favor by showing a concept car designed for
Minority Report ( Lexus 2054 aka Lexus Minority ) multiple times in the background of
The Island. Still that's just a theory. I don't actually know what happened. But it seems plausible.

There are two modes for
Michael Bay: The playful mode of him having fun. This is the Bay of
Bad Boys and
Transformers. And a serious mode. That is the Michael Bay of films like
Ambulance,
Pearl Harbor and
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The latter of which is his most serious film ever.

The Psycho-Sexual analysis of Blender Dumbass

People change. People change! People grow. People adopt. People change their minds about things. People learn new things everyday. People form opinions. People change. And so have I. I notice something rather strange about people that come into contact with me without prior knowledge of what I do and how I think. I remember the other day on mastodon being bombarded with hate for seemingly no reason what so ever. I either said something good about Richard Stallman, or said something slightly too vague about one thing or another. I know I held opinions that I'm not proud of today. I know I probably have opinions right now that I will change in the future. People change.
Therefor I decided that it would be a good idea, both for the sake of my mental health and just as an example of said change, to talk to you about myself. To psycho-sexually analyze what I stand for. What I believe in. And most importantly: how I got to this point. How I changed to be where I am today. Yet, in a strange kind of way I am slightly afraid of strangers when it comes to my psychology. It is my private life, after all. And I don't want to reveal everybody everything about me. The good, the bad and the ugly. And then the ugly, the bad and the good. I don't want to give haters the platform to hate. So I suppose this is the perfect excuse to use the
fediverse gimmick I came up with, the other day. Basically you have to be at least somewhat of a fan of me and / or my work, in order for me to feel okay with sharing with you all this private, highly emotional, stuff. Don't worry about it. If you are a fan, this is going to be a piece of cake for you. The website will just check that you are, and everything is going to be okay. For everybody else, perhaps, this article isn't for you.

In 1994, just before
Bad Boys Michael Bay directed a music video for a song "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" by
Meat Loaf (
Michael Lee Aday ), which shows striking resemblance to his 2001 film
Pearl Harbor and has some interesting choices that echo throughout his career. Choices that beg for a psycho-sexual analysis.
